Perhaps the most iconic and most popular Jayhawk logo amongst KU fans, Gene "Yogi" Williams' "Warhawk" or "Fighting Jayhawk" logo featured an opened beak and intimidating eyes which gave it more of a contentious appearance. This Jayhawk logo was introduced during WWII and quickly gained popularity until a more peaceful and happy bird was introduced just five years later.
